NewsSunday Drivers headline Club NME LASunday Drivers headlined Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (June 27). The Los Angeles-based trio played several tracks from their new EP, 'Archetypes', and won over the crowd with their high-energy, '80s-influenced rock reminiscent of The Strokes and Interpol. Charismatic frontman Brady Erickson put his band through the paces during their nearly hour-long set. San Francisco-based rockers Strata opened. Resident DJ Dia spun a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets. Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night. The club will be closed next Wednesday in observance of the 4th of July holiday. South African leg of Live Earth changes venues The Johannesburg leg of the Live Earth concerts has shifted venues due to lack of ticket sales at original venue. The show will now take place at the 18,000 capacity Coca Cola Dome in the city as opposed to the original venue in Maropeng. It is thought the 45-minute drive and lack of public transport to Maropeng is responsible for poor ticket sales for the July 7 event. Tickets for the show which will feature performances by Joss Stone, UB40 and various African artists are priced at around $35. The Istanbul leg of the event was cancelled last week, due to lack of sponsorship interest. Local business in Turkey are said to be reluctant to get involved with the event, fearing protests from environmental groups about pollution produced by their factories. |
